How to disable efficiency mode in task manager? Windows efficiency mode is making apps like Google Chrome unusable.

Task manager on my windows desktop  says that efficiency mode is active for several but not all sub-processes of google chrome and I believe that is the reason for the drop in performance.

I am able to disable efficiency mode for each individual sub-process, but *it returns a few minutes later. I cannot permanently disable it.*Simple actions such as changing a tab or moving the window causes it to freeze for several minutes. 

  • I have no recent or current updates to install. Everything is up to date.- There are no other demanding processes / apps running on my pc- I have tried altering Chrome's performance and memory settings. Nothing changed.- This problem is the same with Edge and some other applications.- Efficiency mode is greyed out for the entire application. Only certain sub-processes of chrome are in efficiency mode.

The only difference between yesterday and today, is that efficiency mode is active non-stop.

I do not want efficiency mode running at all for google chrome as it is the main browser I use for work and school.

    Open Google chrome paste the link below one of each and disable the options in the image.

    chrome://flags/#battery-saver-mode-available

    chrome://flags/#high-efficiency-mode-available

    Restart on Pc and test.

    Thanks for the response.

    I tried what you suggested and disabled both settings, relaunched, and turned off efficiency mode for each sub-process it was active for.

    Within 2 minutes, efficiency mode was re-activated, so your solution didn't seem to work.

    I am on a desktop so I don't think the battery one would have any effect.

    I did the test here on my PC, apparently it's not a Chrome problem, but a Windows problem, but I managed to reduce the efficient mode request.

    1. Open the Control Panel, go to Hardware and Sound tab > Power Options > Select High Performance.
    2. Open microsoft edge go to settings > System and performance and disable all options.
    3. open Google chrome go to settings tab > system > disable all options.
    4. restart the computer open chrome again and access the extensions tab and disable all extensions and take the test.
    5. If possible, also perform a test by placing the sites in the assets tab in google chrome.
    • Open google chrome select settings > performance > Keep this sites always active click Add.
