Task manager on my windows desktop says that efficiency mode is active for several but not all sub-processes of google chrome and I believe that is the reason for the drop in performance. Only certain sub-processes of chrome are in efficiency mode. The only difference between yesterday and today, is that efficiency mode is active non-stop. I do not want efficiency mode running at all for google chrome as it is the main browser I use for work and school.

I did update and the issue is still up. I still have the efficiency mode on my chrome. Did you do something other than the update

I'm running a 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400F 2.50 GHz I went through and turned off all things that could be triggering efficiency mode on chrome last night. I also removed the most recent update and although the efficiency mode is still triggering in task manager for chrome. IT no longer seems to be grinding to a halt.

I too have just been experiencing the collosal slow downs of Chrome being put in to efficiency mode. Lost quite a bit of work. Tried all the things noted above. Disabling any in app settings related to efficiency memory or power saving. Cannot find the mention KB update in my list of updates to uninstall.

I'm having the same issues and now my PC is even starting to freeze up. ****!? Everything was working fine up until just over a month ago and now these ongoing BS issues to deal with! What a waste of my time!
