Windows 10 Version 22H2 (KB5022834) will not update

Well I am glad this issue is not just happening to the few of us that have reported it here.

Just spent the past 2 hours letting chkdsk /r run and no disk errors were even found. I am going to try and run SFCFix but before I do that do I need to keep my Updates status paused?

same issue happening to me. done everything listed in this thread and then some. ran re-image and completely wiped junk/ registry errors. tried manual install of update. this is ridiculous

I will have to investigate this inplace upgrade.

When I booted from a recovery USB, it wanted to format my drive and re-install.

I did and restored my latest backup--- all my programs and personal stuff was gone!

I had an image of the disk from an image program and put everything back but I would have been totally screwed without the image.

BTW, I do not store any data files on the OS drive.

Reinstalling Windows means reinstalling ALL the programs that I have installed.

That is NOT an acceptable option for me.

Let me clarify this. A repair installation (a.k.a, in-place upgrade) retains your apps, settings, and data. For example, when you install a Feature Update, it actually does an in-place upgrade, and that's how your programs/files/settings are intact.

I agree fully with WDanielW': Microsoft is supposed to deliver clean updates for his OS, not to ask, each time an update is bugged, to reinstall the system. The system of each user is adapted to his needs, tuned. It's not only a question of private data. And on my PC, the system is clean (I executed all the control processes like SFC et DISM + the verification of all Windows Update services and found nothing wrong). I have Windows systems since Win 3.1 and the things are getting worst each year with the updates. The customer have no time to invest in complicated manipulations or reinstallations. Today I lost 1,5 hour. The quality control must be done ==before== the updates are sent into the market. That is a minimal requirement for a so big international brand of the computing branch. ;)
