Family Safety location tracking not working

Hello. I have two children with Android phones (Samsung S21's). We have used Microsoft Family Safety for a few years and location tracking has worked perfectly until a few weeks ago when it stopped updating their locations.

I looked at every setting on both their phones, making sure all of the recommended location settings, security settings, battery settings were correct. Still couldn't get their location which showed they were both "In the house" when they were actually at school.

I uninstalled the app from both phones and reinstalled it. I followed all of the security prompts for the recommended settings. Both phones started to report their location again.

However... one of my children is on a school trip. Their phone last reported in five hours ago from a service station 250 miles away. They are now at their destination, but the Microsoft Family Safety app still shows them where they were five hours ago (extremely worrying for a parent).

Looks like the probkem has happened again. This must be a Microsoft problem What are the chances of both my kids phones stopping reporting their location at exactly the same time?

Come on Microsoft please fix this. Our children are very important to us and the app is called Microsoft "Family Safety".

Wow that is the first I heard, thankyou for sharing.

The other features of the App, you can get through the Xbox App.

This is not what we wanted to hear. We have fed back the comments here and value your input.

Microsoft....Do you actually ready these posts...obviously not as I don't think you would want to post such ridiculous things. I thought Apple were bad but nope...MS takes the clown award!

Because that's what Microsoft do. If they can't or don't want to fix/improve something, they end it or cut all ties with it ASAP.

Remember Windows Phone, Lumia and Microsoft Band?

Microsoft don't really care about loyal customers unless it's profitable enough. But they somewhat care about their reputation.

So maybe we are at fault that we complained about the issue. Old version always worked and I guess we needed to kept silent...

"We decided to focus our efforts on digital safety..." - what they are talking about? This app doesn't even support any browser except Edge and lacks many other features. Not even close to Kaspersky in terms of digital safety. The best thing about Family Safety for a smartphone was drive safety and location tracking, and now they will be removing it.

That's interesting that they would say users don't use the location features when the location features haven't worked in almost a year. How could we use them? Back when it worked, I used it for lots of alerts.

Maybe when they fix the location issue, they will realize that everyone is using it and will decide not to remove the feature.

I just reentered the beta again and after updating I got a notification that Microsoft will be removing the location features from Family Safety after 29th of November 2024 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/end-of-support-for-location-and-drive-safety-fac9830e-97b1-46f2-8a70-54aa71fa7e9f

So why now come with a notification that you are close to find a fix...
