Seems strange that it still works with the earlier app version, if they are putting the fault down to an internal service....
Unless the new app version is calling a different internal service (unlikely)

Hello. I have two children with Android phones (Samsung S21's). We have used Microsoft Family Safety for a few years and location tracking has worked perfectly until a few weeks ago when it stopped updating their locations.
I looked at every setting on both their phones, making sure all of the recommended location settings, security settings, battery settings were correct. Still couldn't get their location which showed they were both "In the house" when they were actually at school.
I uninstalled the app from both phones and reinstalled it. I followed all of the security prompts for the recommended settings. Both phones started to report their location again.
However... one of my children is on a school trip. Their phone last reported in five hours ago from a service station 250 miles away. They are now at their destination, but the Microsoft Family Safety app still shows them where they were five hours ago (extremely worrying for a parent).
Looks like the probkem has happened again. This must be a Microsoft problem What are the chances of both my kids phones stopping reporting their location at exactly the same time?
Come on Microsoft please fix this. Our children are very important to us and the app is called Microsoft "Family Safety".

Download Life360 and start using that app instead....
Microsoft's take on this problem, "replace the app by calling a few times per day" is not a sufficient replacement. Their IT Support had been horrendous forever and they are known for responses like this... unfortunately, family safety was a great app for years but now it just takes up space on my phone as it doesn't work at all.. it's useless.
Hi,
I have the same problem, in the last 3-4 weeks it simply stopped working. I have 3 kids and my 70+ mother in the tracking. Microsoft doesn't care, it seems. Please provide a fix or i switch to Google services and start advertising your support capabilities experience I made as widely as I can on the internet. This service is crucial to me and it is not funny at all to have the ignorance of your service. I use in the family Samsung and Xiaomi phones with different android versions of the last 3. The problem therefore is hard to believe on my side. It is on the Microsoft side.
Thanks for your help in advance or good bye,
A pissed customer.
I’m having the same problem with my iPhone and my nephew’s android phone. The problem began yesterday (3/15/23) and has continued. I uninstalled the app then reinstalled it with no success. This is worrisome to say the least. What’s wrong, Microsoft?
I have logged out and logged in again from the organizer account in my notebook and location from android cellphones are displayed again.
