How to turn off Windows security asking me for a password to see my Google Chrome passwords

OMG, thank you! I've been scouring settings for both Chrome and Windows trying to figure out how to remove this. The web has been absolutely no help! That is, until I came across your comment by chance!!! Thanks!!!

This does NOT work for me. I have verified "Use Windows Hello when filling passwords" is turned off in Chrome. It hasn't ever been turned on in fact. But I still get prompted by Windows Security for my credentials whenever I try to view or edit my passwords in Chrome.

The issue isn't that it prompts me for my credentials. The problem is that it prompts repeatedly, sometimes more than a dozen times in a row before it will let me return to my passwords.

Here is the scenario: I'm trying to go through all of my passwords and get rid of ones that I don't want and update ones that I do. This requires me to go to the websites where I created the passwords to change them. Sometimes that process takes me a few minutes and when I try to return to the Google Passwords tabs Windows Security asks for my pin 5, 10, 20 times in a row depending on something like how many passwords are on showing on the tab, I haven't figured that out, but I can say for sure, there is no need to ask me to enter my credentials more than once and it consistently does.

I don't mind entering it once. But ANY more than that is too much.

That's due to Google Chrome invoking the Windows security dialog and not Windows itself, so Google is to blame. Microsoft simply provides access to the interface that Google is calling.

To disable Windows security asking for a password to see your Google Chrome passwords, navigate to Settings > Auto-fill > Password Manager in Chrome and turn off "Use Windows Hello when filling passwords." This will remove the Windows Hello prompt when accessing saved passwords. Remember, disabling this feature reduces security as anyone with access to your computer can view your saved passwords without additional verification.
