Windows 11 File Explorer no longer remembers search history; how to reenable?

I frequently use File Explorer to search for local files. Until recently, it would remember my past file searches, but beginning two days ago, without warning, File Explorer no longer remembers those searches; the search bar is empty. How do I reenable it?

I've confirmed that search and file history is enabled in Privacy settings. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Many of us are using Windows 11 for work so we do not have permissions to use the Microsoft Store and change admin settings so we need a solution that applies to all users like it always used to in Windows 10 and earlier.

    One thing that pisses me off is they see these posts and they know people are frustrated and looking for an answer

    they don’t give a…………………..k

    They don’t want even acknowledge that there is something wrong, and they are working on it.

    I have the same issue/bug. I attempted all of the possible solutions offered by Microsoft Support and nothing worked. This really shouldn't be so hard to fix and even if it is somehow extremely hard to fix this bug, it should be prioritized, not ignored for several months with no signs of progress or updates. It is even more inexcusable when you consider the fact that for ages, we were given the ability to see and use our search history in File Explorer then it was suddenly taken away from us with Windows 11 which was supposed to be a superior product, not inferior. I have subscribed to this feed and look forward to hearing some news that our seven screens worth of feedback are not being ignored and that a solution is on its way.

    In case anyone was wondering, the latest update KB5027231, which again has security updates, also includes "improvements" such as this.

    I'm going to keep hiding the SECURITY updates until either the thing is fixed, or I find a file explorer alternative that I like that has a search history.

    Maybe I should just go back to Windows 10 or switch to Linux. Seems to be safer that way.

    Im having the same issue. Please fix this, is very inconvenient!

    Why windows updates always have to slow down or break something in the system? And why we cant just turn them off?
