why am i getting icloud sign on pop up window all the time?

I got "end task," clicked it but it still cycles open. If I "end task:," does that mean that iCloud isn't working? And, I'm confused between Apple iCloud and MS iCloud.

I am just another (above average?) Windows user that is trying to contribute to solving common issues with our computers. So please be understanding if I've put anything in the post that seems wrong or incomplete. I welcome any clarifications that may be needed.

I have also encountered this problem so I searched the web and found this posting that described the issue. It seems there may be some confusion about two different manifestations of this issue.

1. The screen that appears is asking for the user to login to their Apple ID (not the users email account).
2. If the iCloud app is already logged in to the Apple ID (it can stay logged in across restarts), the popup window is displaying status of the various services of iCloud. This occurred every time I logged into my Windows user.

After reading through the thread I realized that this is the same issue described in a post I answered on the Apple Community Forum. That solution seems to have worked for many people. Here's a link to that post:

Essentially, the solution is to do a complete uninstall and get rid of all remnants of the app that may be left lying around, and from ALL users that may have had it installed. Then, if one wants to use it, a reinstall of iCloud for Windows. As every one knows, there can be stuff left over in the registry and other places that can affect future installs and updates.

As is known, when you log out or uninstall iCloud for Windows, all data that is stored in the iCloud folders is deleted from the PC. All the data should still be stored in the cloud servers. The only caveat is if there is something stored in the iCloud folders on your PC that iCloud can't handle, such as subfolders in the Photos folder.

If at the end of this, you still have iCloud installed then you may still need to disable in the Startup list. To access the Startup list:

1. Open Task Manager. Multiple ways to get to it: a) Right-click empty area on taskbar, select Task Manger; b) Right-click Start button, select Task Manger; c) Click Search in Taskbar type Task Manager.

3. Right-click each entry containing iCloud that is Enabled and select Disable.

This solution, of course, does not delve into all the stuff that can be left in the Windows registry, but so far, the steps outlined in the post on the Apple Forum seems to resolve this. If not, more work can be done to specify what needs to be deleted from the registry.

This is a prime example of how poorly MacOS and Windows play together. And there appears to be little incentive to change that by the respective players.

I just started having issues with iCloud pop-up after the most recent Windows Update/Dell Bios update

I tried following these instructions, made no difference

I went to Task Manager. iCloud is already disabled but keeps popping up.
