Windows 11 is limiting my internet speeds

I found it was Microsoft Teams client that was affecting my PC after Win 11 upgrade.

I happened to notice after many network resets and reboots that only Teams was running, so I killed all related processes and the internet speed returned.

When I ran Teams client again the speed reduced to 7-8 MBPS. In the end I removed the app after several tests to check it was this. Note: never happened in Win10.

Some clients like Teams - so have to use the Browser version. It is a shame as cannot auto set up in Outlook.

If you find the magic switch in Win 11 that is doing this let me know.

This is for Lester BernardReyes, hoping you'll get this message - I HAD a problem with my internet upload speeds, my Spectrum downloads run about 550 and normal upload is around 21. However on one computer, I only had upload speeds of 2 to 4. I found you answered that question back in 2021 with almost the exact same set of instructions as given here. The first time I did just the WWAN step, turned it off and turned it on, and it fixed the upload. 2 days later it was down to under 1 - download was still 550+. So I tried again, no change. So I followed the second set of instructions (netsh and ipconfig). NOW, INSTEAD OF 550+ DOWNLOAD, I HAVE ONLY 70 DOWNLOAD. Upload continues in the 4 to 6 range. WHAT HAPPENED?? How do I get my original settings back to download at 550+ ????

Hey Robert, I had the same problem as you. After following the second set of steps, my download speeds shot down. The problem is the issue keeps returning. Having tested this to destruction on my win11 system it occurs every time I open a Teams and Zoom client - probably others. (Did not happen on Win10).

You can simply open Task Manager, and delete the Teams or Zoom processes and watch the internet speed return.

I raised this with Teams support - they shrugged shoulders and requested I open a ticket with the Windows team because it is not just a Teams issue :-(

I have stopped using Teams and Zoom clients - I will wait until the Windows team fixes it or I get a new system.

I have the SAME issue with Windows 11 and zoom. Don't use Teams.. if I can help it.

I have kept a diary, but run into the same loop

• Speedtest: ~960MBPs Down/40MBPs Up Before I start Zoom (this happens on Ethernet (1GBPS) and Wi-fi (~800MBPs) link speeds)
• Start Zoom: Speed Test Throttles to ~5-8 MBPS Down and 3-5MBPs Up.
• QUIT Zoom (not end it): Speed Test REVERTs to NORMAL: ~960MBPs Down/40MBPs Up

Been happening for 5+ months. Lenovo X1 Yoga; Intel Video; Intel Wi-Fi, Real-tek Ethernet

Gone through all gyrations of installs, uninstalls, updates, delete drivers, app updates, windows updates, SFC Scannow, DSIM Health Restores, Scrubbing Event logs, etc.

NO SOlution Found. Zoom doesnt acknowledge problem between app settings and windows 11. only testing network and bandwidth...

Need Microsoft and Zoom to help!

I owe you a beer or two! Been banging my head against the wall, trying all the usual fixes and could not get my otherwise healthy Dell above 130Mbps on a Cox Gigablast connection. Had previously seen 930mbps+ downloads and out of the blue the system was 60-130Mbps. Today I found your note about the auto tuning = normal bit and tried that and Voila! 825 down again. Thanks!
