Windows 11 is limiting my internet speeds

When I go into my network connections tab under my control panel I can see that the speed of the connection varies but usually stays between 150Mb/s to 180Mb/s however when it comes to browsing or downloading things I'm only getting between 3-5Mb/s.

I have already gone through and uninstalled then reinstalled brand new drivers as well as this being a brand new PC.

Metered connections is off

I also know its not anything to do with my network as when testing the speed on other devices it usually stays between 150Mb/s to 180Mb/s as well.

I have tried everything that I can find however nothing has worked thus far and I am just very confused why my computer just doesn't seem to want to use its available internet.

For specs I'm running a gigabyte B450M D3SH WIFI motherboard, Ryzen 5 2600, RTX 2070 super, 16 gigs of ram, 500 GB SSD, 2TB HDD. Running the most current version of windows 11

This was my dream gaming pc and so to have this slow of wifi makes it somewhat useless

    Mine has been stable for a few days now but it doesn't fill me with confidence.

    Exactly the same as you, doesn't matter if I'm on wired or wireless I was getting capped at 9mbps, just updated Virgin Media to M250 so was even more annoyed as I'd doubled my speed and that was pointless as Windows decided to cap it.

    Yeah, I also had some success with resetting all network connections through CMD, the jury is out on whether the auto-tuning makes it better or worse or no difference. To complicate matters further I've been downloading Microsoft Flight Simulator which turns out to be terrible anyway as the server is extremely slow and inconsistent.

    I'm not sure if it was on this thread but I have also removed all traces of Microsoft Teams so maybe that was the magic bullet? Currently getting full 264Mbit download on speedtest.net.

    Same issue here, 90Mbp fibre connection that works on every other device in the household. Now I've installed windows 11 on a new SSD on my desktop pc and now it have issues with it capping to 3Mbps download speeds randomly. Resetting the network settings through the CMD prompts sorts it for a few days. Occurs if I use wireless or wired connections.

    I am losing my mind with this.

    Brand new PC - all drivers are up to date.

    Fresh install of Windows 11 - Still the same problem

    Booted into safe mode, got the issue with the PIN not working - another fresh install

    Back into windows, made sure I removed PIN as it DOES NOT WORK

    Tried everything, I did get my download speed to 250mbs for a few minutes, but now its back to being throttled at 9 mbps

    What a complete load of rubbish. How can Microsoft justify charging £120 for an operating system that is unable to use the internet properly.

    I owe you a beer or two! Been banging my head against the wall, trying all the usual fixes and could not get my otherwise healthy Dell above 130Mbps on a Cox Gigablast connection. Had previously seen 930mbps+ downloads and out of the blue the system was 60-130Mbps. Today I found your note about the auto tuning = normal bit and tried that and Voila! 825 down again. Thanks!

    I have the SAME issue with Windows 11 and zoom. Don't use Teams.. if I can help it.

    I have kept a diary, but run into the same loop

    • Speedtest: ~960MBPs Down/40MBPs Up Before I start Zoom (this happens on Ethernet (1GBPS) and Wi-fi (~800MBPs) link speeds)
    • Start Zoom: Speed Test Throttles to ~5-8 MBPS Down and 3-5MBPs Up.
    • QUIT Zoom (not end it): Speed Test REVERTs to NORMAL: ~960MBPs Down/40MBPs Up

    Been happening for 5+ months. Lenovo X1 Yoga; Intel Video; Intel Wi-Fi, Real-tek Ethernet

    Gone through all gyrations of installs, uninstalls, updates, delete drivers, app updates, windows updates, SFC Scannow, DSIM Health Restores, Scrubbing Event logs, etc.

    NO SOlution Found. Zoom doesnt acknowledge problem between app settings and windows 11. only testing network and bandwidth...

    Need Microsoft and Zoom to help!
