Windows 11 is limiting my internet speeds

When I go into my network connections tab under my control panel I can see that the speed of the connection varies but usually stays between 150Mb/s to 180Mb/s however when it comes to browsing or downloading things I'm only getting between 3-5Mb/s.

I have already gone through and uninstalled then reinstalled brand new drivers as well as this being a brand new PC.

Metered connections is off

I also know its not anything to do with my network as when testing the speed on other devices it usually stays between 150Mb/s to 180Mb/s as well.

I have tried everything that I can find however nothing has worked thus far and I am just very confused why my computer just doesn't seem to want to use its available internet.

For specs I'm running a gigabyte B450M D3SH WIFI motherboard, Ryzen 5 2600, RTX 2070 super, 16 gigs of ram, 500 GB SSD, 2TB HDD. Running the most current version of windows 11

This was my dream gaming pc and so to have this slow of wifi makes it somewhat useless

    If you have a Dell computer, and Dell Optimizer is running, if can limit the network bandwidth trying to prioritise some apps.

    You can run it by clicking on the Windows icon and starting to type Dell Optimizer, it should show up. Then disable network optimization.

    I noticed that switching off network optimisation is not necessarily remembered between reboots or updates. Also, sometimes a way to bring up its GUI is hard to find as it does not always show in the list of "hints" when you start typing the name.

    An alternative option is to go to installed apps and just uninstall the Optimizer. You can always install it again from Dell's site if you really need it (hmm). That fixes it permanently.

    It's been limiting my speed to 100Mbps on a 250Mbps link for about 2 years until I found the solution...

    Thanks! This just fixed my issue. It made no sense why this was happening and to make matters worse I was getting conflicting results between Fast.com and Speedtest using the same browser so it wasn't even application specific. It almost seems like Dell's Optimizer software is restricting speed to certain sites rather than at an application level.

    Typically I uninstall all bloat when I buy a new comp but was kind of lazy with this one.....eh guess I learned my lesson.

    I'm back to 5Mb network speeds too. It'd been working fine for a couple of weeks and a couple of nights ago my steamlink went back to complaining of slow network speeds again. It's definitely an issue with windows or something in this install as I've tried a USB network adapter, the on board network port, a PCIE network card and a PCI wireless card. All of them end up capping out around 5Mb on this PC but my network (and internet) speeds are fine on any other device on the network.

    My last throw of the dice is going to be to attempt a reinstall to see if something has went wrong on this install.
