Windows 11 is limiting my internet speeds

When I go into my network connections tab under my control panel I can see that the speed of the connection varies but usually stays between 150Mb/s to 180Mb/s however when it comes to browsing or downloading things I'm only getting between 3-5Mb/s.

I have already gone through and uninstalled then reinstalled brand new drivers as well as this being a brand new PC.

Metered connections is off

I also know its not anything to do with my network as when testing the speed on other devices it usually stays between 150Mb/s to 180Mb/s as well.

I have tried everything that I can find however nothing has worked thus far and I am just very confused why my computer just doesn't seem to want to use its available internet.

For specs I'm running a gigabyte B450M D3SH WIFI motherboard, Ryzen 5 2600, RTX 2070 super, 16 gigs of ram, 500 GB SSD, 2TB HDD. Running the most current version of windows 11

This was my dream gaming pc and so to have this slow of wifi makes it somewhat useless

    Have you tried this, I have stumbled upon this recently and has made a night and day difference in my wired connection speed.

    I bought a new network card because I suspected that at fault but it was something inside Windows 11 holding it off.

    In Group Policy Editor ( Run > gpedit.msc ) navigate to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Policy-based QoS

    Right click Policy-based QoS and then select Advanced QoS Settings.

    On the Inbound TCP Traffic tab - ensure "specify the inbound TCP throughput level" is ticked and level 3 (maximum throughput is selected).

    It seems by default in Windows 11 this is not ticked and behaves unexpectedly.

    I tested my connection using Speedtest.net.

    This fixed my problem where the download speed would steadily incease but never reach the speed at my router and other devices.

    The upload was capped at around 190Mbps using Google Chrome. Microsoft Edge however had no problem reaching the full bandwidth from my ISP.

    The ping on Speedtest.net never fluctuated as you would expect when downloading or uploading at higher speeds before I applied this.

    Changing WLAN Autoconfig and WWAN Autoconfig helped me. Not sure what happened. I didn't change any settings and didn't even know these settings existed until today. Thanks Bernard.

    This is for Lester BernardReyes, hoping you'll get this message - I HAD a problem with my internet upload speeds, my Spectrum downloads run about 550 and normal upload is around 21. However on one computer, I only had upload speeds of 2 to 4. I found you answered that question back in 2021 with almost the exact same set of instructions as given here. The first time I did just the WWAN step, turned it off and turned it on, and it fixed the upload. 2 days later it was down to under 1 - download was still 550+. So I tried again, no change. So I followed the second set of instructions (netsh and ipconfig). NOW, INSTEAD OF 550+ DOWNLOAD, I HAVE ONLY 70 DOWNLOAD. Upload continues in the 4 to 6 range. WHAT HAPPENED?? How do I get my original settings back to download at 550+ ????

    Hey Robert, I had the same problem as you. After following the second set of steps, my download speeds shot down. Hope this helps.

    Guys

    I do not believe that the Dell optimiser raised by Pawel is the same issue., but then again who thought a web meeting client would reduce the internet bandwidth!

    Micosoft Support has also suggested a CLEAN INSTALL ... obviously, they have plenty of time on their hands, however, I cannot waste such time.

    However, I did need to upgrade to a new PC and will do so over the next few days.

    When I find time to install and test. I will inform thread of the results.
