Time zone locked, and options to change are permanently greyed out.

My computer just locked my timezone to Arizona, and absolutely will not allow me to change it. It's causing havoc on alot of my apps that rely on my clock to function, and manually changing the time only seems to change the clock in the corner not the time that all my apps depend on.

I have tried scanning the computer for corrupted files as per a separate post I managed to dig up, but it found nothing to fix. With the clean boot I couldn't figure out what was doing it because it was still grayed out and set to Arizona as soon as it booted.

I had this same issue, but found a workaround (At least a temporary one)

Right click the date/time toolbar in the bottom right corner, then click "Adjust date/time" from the menu.

In that menu, scroll down to "related settings" and click "Add clocks for different time zones"
This SHOULD bring up a classic windows menu. Click the far left tab for "Date and Time" and select your time zone there. Click "Okay" and then "Apply" and you should be good to go.

    The device location setting enables certain Windows features such as auto-setting the time zone or Find my device to function properly. If Windows is recognizing your location wrong, it could cause a time zone problem.

    You can set your location manually in the Privacy settings.

    1-Go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Location.

    2-Under Default location, select Set default.

    3-The Windows Maps app will open. Follow the instructions to change your default location.

    If the problem persists, you can perform the repair upgrade using the Media Creation Tool, this procedure will repair all Windows files, apps, services, and registry keys.

    1-Download the media creation tool.

    2-Run the tool and select 'Upgrade this pc now'

    3-Select the option 'Keep all my files and apps'

    4-Then click to update.

    It seems to solve itself occasionally, but revert every once in a while. I currently can't recreate the issue again, but yes I had attempted to mess with those options. The set time automatically option I had to disable in order to force the time to the correct time. However no matter what options were selected the set time zone automatically was locked in the on position and greyed out not allowing it to be modified.

    Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

    Did you try to turn off the option "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically"? If you disable these options and are still not able to change the time zone, please attach a screenshot of the Date & Time settings.

    1-Click on Start then click on Settings

    2-Click on Time & Language

    3-Date & time

    And a screenshot of the System Information page to help to identify what is causing the problem.

    1-Right-click on Start then click on Run

    2-Type: msinfo32 and click on OK
