Windows 11 network shows "connected no internet access" but I am online, can connect to most websites, but some win apps think I'm offline and do not work

Over the past few days my win 11 PC network connection started showing connected but no internet access status. I can get online and access most websites, but some windows apps like Spotify thinks I am offline and will not work. I think this may have happened after the most recent Win update. Have run network troubleshooter and rebooted my modem with no effect. See several references to this issue in Win 10 but nothing for Win 11., Very frustrating and would love to hear some possible fixes from the community.

    The following worked for me. After stopping and starting, I did not have to reboot, all worked fine immediately:

    • Open Services (Press Windows key + R then type in services.msc then click OK)

    -Look for WLAN Autoconfig and WWAN Autoconfig> Right-Click Properties and set it to automatic (If it's already set to automatic, right-click then click stop then start it again)

    Only fix that worked for me was a windows reinstall. Sucks, but of all the things I tried, that's the only thing that worked.

    I re-installed my windows 11 twice now and even did a factory reset to my router. still no luck.
    tried several approaches and searched reddit, several websites and the microsoft answers forum but couldn't find anything that helped.

    It's not a solution, but I found that it worked when I reset Windows 11. Once it started applying patches, it stopped working again. I now notice that when I start the machine, and it does not work, I have to restart it again, and it works. I wish Microsoft would fix this, as it takes me two reboots to get my internet connection working. I also noticed going to Microsoft.com in the browser, it says not connected, but at a command prompt, typing, ping Microsoft.com shows a reply for me. Linux never fails so it is not a hardware thing. Very frustrating for us all.

    Thought I'd post a simple solution for those that may have used a VPN on their PC at one point or another. I had a DNS error suddenly, even though I was connected to the Internet. After doing all the usual suspect, DNS reset, network reset and so many more, after hours I thought let me connect to my VPN.... And it suddenly worked. I turned off the VPN, and it kept working.

    Why this happened? I haven't the foggiest idea, but it was a relief.
