Windows 11 network shows "connected no internet access" but I am online, can connect to most websites, but some win apps think I'm offline and do not work

Over the past few days my win 11 PC network connection started showing connected but no internet access status. I can get online and access most websites, but some windows apps like Spotify thinks I am offline and will not work. I think this may have happened after the most recent Win update. Have run network troubleshooter and rebooted my modem with no effect. See several references to this issue in Win 10 but nothing for Win 11., Very frustrating and would love to hear some possible fixes from the community.

    Hello,

    In my case, I had to check every parameter of Network Connectivity Status Indicator(NCIS) in the registry.

    I found, somehow, the values of the two DWORDs are set to "1" which are expected to be "0"

    DWORDs:

    DisablePassivePolling

    NoActive Probe

    Both must be set to "0".

    After correcting these settings restart related services and reconnect to the WiFi. Or simply, restart your computer. Once the internet is detected there may be disconnect several times. It is quite normal since all background services detect the Internet and configure their parameters which may cause disconnections.

    My solution is valid for Windows 10 1607 and above. Lastly tested on Windows 11 24H2.
