I don't mind reinstalling again on this system. it's been a while since ei used the media creation tool so i will refresh myself on that and get a usb to install the .iso on the usb and install windows that way.

I am also thinking about getting another motherboard in the meantime, maybe also getting a 13th gen i5 processor because my 9900k system is bottlenecking both my 3090 and 4090 at the moment and its really noticeable in the frame rates.

If i do go that route and get another motherboard/cpu as a backup 13th gen system, do you think it would be alright to install windows 11 on that second 2tb m.2 that i deleted/formatted on the system that is having issues? I just dont want this alternative system to have any of the same issues.

Have you run the dxdiag.exe utility on your system?

If you decide to do another re-install, that system can probably use the NTFS version of the Install media. All you need to do is set up an NTFS formatted drive, then mount the downloaded .iso file and copy the contents over to the USB drive.

I know the problem is not hogwarts specifically. I think its Direct x12/shaders related at minimum. The reason is because my computer was fine until recently, able to play games like callisto/mw2/etc. all games with dx12/shaders. about a month ago, i tried playing callisto and other games with shaders, and they started crashing like this out of nowhere. which has lead me down this spiraling path where i have probably made it worse with all the troubleshooting i've tried.

Never had issues with the gpu or power supply or games up until recently. I was even able to run some of those games, like callisto protocol just now in DX11, but trying it in DX12 crashes my application and sometimes my system.

I feel like there is something missing or possibly an issue with the motherboard.

I think i should get a new motherboard here soon and use the newer ram i bought for testing, put the intel CPU in that motherboard and install the windows 11 OS on it to see if i get the same problems.

I do not have these issues with my 4090 or my 3090 in my 9900k system, so its isolated to the computer with my 13900k/z690-e mobo.

The Bug check code is 139 which means what is shown at the bottom. It looks like Hogwarts is causing quite a few problems. It still may have been better to just let the system run without extra games.

There was a Memory.dmp file produced. I am not good at reading those, but you might make it available.

Have you decided the games crashing is what is corrupting your system? The power supply you are using seems to be enough, as long as it is a good quality. One site indicates the RTX 4090 can spike to up around 1300 Watts.

Too bad we don't have a baseline as to how the system performs in its most basic configuration.

oh i see what you mean, one drive is automatically showing those games. Yes, one drive tends to just download some stuff to itself when i don't intend it to which is annoying, however, i have redownloaded the game im using to test this which is hogwarts.

The computer crashed multiple times and failed to install updates multiple times but eventually, it installed the windows updates entirely it seems:

so since windows appears to be updated, i put my GPU in the computer and installed geforce experience, but i am still getting the failed installation errors:

Maybe there is an issue with my pcie slot?

For the installation question, i have the windows 11 usb drive so i didnt bother making a media creation iso. Do you think that would make a difference?

i swapped the card to the other pcie lane and the drivers installed, however, this did not fix the game crashing when booting up hogwarts when the shaders started loading. same thing with callisto and other dx12/shader games:
