I had one abortive try with MS tech support. The agent deleted drivers one after another, without asking any questions. He succeeded in removing my license to Adobe CS3 but failed to solve the memory integrity issue. Fortunately I was able to use system restore to get back my CS3 license. I also eventually discovered that the memory integrity issue was due to old Dell software intended to assist their technicians. Removing that solved the problem. I will be very wary of asking for MS tech support in the future!

I believe it was something like Dell Diagnostics or Instrumentation. It came with an old Dell Studio desktop 540. I installed a new motherboard.

Thank you!!! I struggled with this most of the morning. Your post was the exact information I needed!

I used the pnputil built into Windows to enumerate all drivers, search for all Dell drivers (found 5) and pnputil to delete all of them (using the oem*.inf provided in the enumeration. Problem solved and I won't have to dig through the list of "Windows Assessment Tool" "Unnecessary drivers" to figure out which ones to keep and which to delete.

I am hesitant to remove all Dell drivers. I just checked and there are 7 in total on my machine. Some are in the firmware class and some are in the system class. I am worried to brick the laptop if something goes bad. Microsoft should really comes up a solution.
