How to move taskbar to vertical position in windows 11?

I am writing to express my deep frustration with the fact that, in Windows 11, the taskbar cannot be moved to the right side of the screen in a fully vertical orientation. This is not a minor inconvenience—it is a critical usability flaw that significantly impacts my workflow and productivity.

For years, Windows has allowed users to customize their taskbar placement—a fundamental feature that enabled people to work the way that best suits them. As a long-time user who depends on a right-side, vertically stacked taskbar, this forced restriction in Windows 11 is not just disappointing, it is outrageous.

I should not have to “get used to” an arbitrary design decision that actively makes my work harder. I rely on a right-side vertical taskbar to:

• Optimize screen real estate, especially on widescreen monitors.
• Improve accessibility and efficiency by keeping icons and information in a familiar, natural place.
• Reduce unnecessary mouse movement, enhancing speed and ergonomics.

By removing this option, Microsoft is disregarding years of user preference and workflow adaptation. This is a step backward in customization and flexibility—one of the defining strengths of Windows.

I demand that Microsoft immediately prioritize restoring the ability to move the taskbar to the right in a fully vertical layout. This should not be a difficult technical implementation—it was already a core feature in previous versions of Windows.

I sincerely hope Microsoft listens to actual users rather than forcing unnecessary restrictions upon them. Please take this complaint seriously and address this regression in functionality as soon as possible.

I totally agree with this post having just installed Win 11 to find this funtionaliy is missing is extremely frustrating.

I agree also. Why remove something so trivial that is important to so many? My applications required the max amount of vertical space. I'd like the task bar to be on the left (vertical).

If you keep this up, the collapse of Microsoft in the business realm will be swift and merciless. I have been hunting for a viable replacement to Microsoft, and you continuously provide me reasons to spend more time on this effort.

Nothing says Windows 11 is an ALPHA release like a slew of mods that make the program infinitely better. Over half of the mods in existence are designed to bring back the most loved features you so desperately wished to stop supporting, and many are the most benign features that show you wish us to use the product your way. This is no better than Apple, all we need now is some expose revealing some devious plan to force users to buy more Microsoft tech.

I wanted to share my feedback regarding the absence of a vertical taskbar in Windows 11. I have relied on a vertical taskbar since 2007, and it has significantly enhanced my productivity over the many years, especially when using multiple monitors. It allows me to access programs without having to move my mouse across all the screens.

I kindly request that you consider reintroducing the option to position the taskbar on the left, right, or top of the screen. Currently, I find Windows 11 quite frustrating without this feature. While I understand that Alt + Tab is available for switching between programs, it becomes less practical when I have numerous applications open at once for my work.
