How to enable Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist when it is greyed out as shown in following screenshot?

This information is well written and it appears that it is a solution which is great for many, but at 74 years of age, I am terrified to attempt it. I am pretty good with computers and have been for 25 years, but this worries me.
Sadly this should be done by Microsoft, but getting through to them is impossible. Given it is a known issue, I would have thought they would have fixed it by now, given they have caused the problem.
I’m a senior also and am not attempting to fix it on my own. I, too, was hoping that they would take care of this with an update. I want to thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
Hi, I would love to know how many people are unaware their security could be compromised by Microsoft's intention to do nothing about this error.
Would we be right in believing that they simply do not care about their vulnerable customers?

There is no such option on my taskbar. The only thing close is: "Check for protection updates", "View security dashboard".
