windows 11 does not recognize my bluetooth speaker as an audio device

Thanks a lot for sharing this. This works on my machine :) I'm using a Boat Bluetooth headset with Lenovo Windows 11 laptop.

It took a while to understand the line - "Open Devices and Printers, More Devices and Printer Settings, go to Sound, audio,controllers and uninstall all 3 of them. Restart. Open the same option again, and then just click on Scan for Hardware changes.".

This is what I did...

1. Unpair the already connected headset.
2. Uninstalled the below mentioned three drivers from Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers. Remember to check "Attempt to remove the driver from this device."
3. Restart machine.
4. Check if those three drivers are installed again, if not click Scan for Hardware Changes.
5. Pair the Bluetooth audio device again.

P.S.: Several hours before this, I had also uninstalled Bluetooth drivers and installed drivers downloaded from Lenovo website. It didn't make any difference. Calling out just in case the above didn't work for you and you'd like to try this too if you're on a Lenovo.

Here is how I fixed this issue on my laptop. I believe the 'Intel Smart Sound Technology drive is the culprit for this issue.

• Intel Smart Sound Technology for Bluetooth Audio
• Intel Smart Sound Technology for Digital Microphones
• Intel Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio

Open Devices and Printers, More Devices and Printer Settings, go to Sound, audio,controllers and uninstall all 3 of them. Restart.
Open the same option again, and then just click on Scan for Hardware changes.

These items will reinstall themselves after you do a 'Scan for hardware changes' so don't worry about uninstalling them. Restart your Windows If you get a prompt for that.

Check your sound setting, and you're done.

I tried literally everything on the internet, right from reddit to quora to other forums. This fixed my issue and is the only fix that worked on my Acer Laptop. let me know if it worked for you.

Thanks for your detailed options for possible fix. However, Bose Soundlink Mini 2 speaker does not appear in "a list" to choose. If the Bose pairs, it shows up in "other devices" and the only option from there is "remove". I have spent last two days going through every procedure folks have posted to no avail. I have contacted Bose support but they gave me same procedures I've read past two days and finally told me to contact Microsoft. I tried, but you can't get live body anymore, they simply want you to use the "help.microsoft.com" website; which post the same procedures every forum has posted.

The Bose Soundlink Mini & Mini 2 both connected on my old Windows 10 box, but I purchased a new gamer box two weeks ago with Windows 11. Both my mini speakers do not connect under Audio output.

All drivers are up-to-date, all firmware is up-to-date and I have conducted the recommended procedures over a dozen times.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated; I'm exhausted!!!!

Under Device & Printers - Windows identifies Bose Soundlink Mini 2 speakers as a "Input Device". Is this a Microsoft issue?

Was working fine for months. Then, one day, Windows stops recognizing them as audio devices. They still connected through Bluetooth, and were listed as Bluetooth audio devices, but did not appear at the list of output audio devices in windows audio taskbarr, so I could not select them.

Nothing in this post worked, but finally after almost a week trying diferent things I found something that worked for me.

Going through Windows Settings>Bluetooth and devices>devices> More devices and printer settings (translated from Catalan, so in engligh may vary slightly).

I then see icons for all the connected devices, including mine.

Right mouse click, them Properties, then services.

In the list of associated services that are shown, I've noticed "Bluetooth serial port" appears 3 times.

I unselected two of them and left only one. Then almost immediatelly the device appeared in the list of output audio devices ready to be chosen.

Just another thing to try if the other options don't work.

It's a shame that Bluetooth setup is such a mess in Windows.

[Edit Dec 17, 2024: I've noticed that usually, for the SRS-NS7, I also have to uncheck the "Hands-free Telephony" checkbox from the same "Services" list to be able to hear the device]
