amd3dvcacheSvc is causing errors, help needed

OK, onto another straw clutching exercise..

I pulled everything out of the pc.. its laying in bits on the floor, all hooked up and running.

I left it running while I went back to work.. could hear games making noises in the background. Let it go for a good hour. Didn't crash. Hmm..

What could be happening, is when the graphics card is screwed into the case, it may be lifting it ever so slightly out of the pci slot.. not by much, but enough to cause problems.

Testing continues.

Mine typically crashes around 3 times a day. Usually when idle when I go to bed. Nutty stuff.

So, this is what ASUS told me to do.

"amd3dvcacheSvc is 3D cache error1. ensure the processor is running at boost (not overclock manually or AI overclock). CPU is running auto frequencies2. If this persists, please ensure the thermal paste on the processor and AIO cooling3. Turn off the system and take out the processor and check for the processor's bottom for any burn or damage; check bent pins on the socket. please take picture of the CPU socket for bent pins and provide to TSD. If and only if bent pins on the CPU socket, RMA the MB. If there are no bent pins, please go to next step4. Send the processor in to repair"

I'm in the process of talking with AMD now. Big finger-pointing game at this point. I have a new PSU, motherboard, CPU, and GPU on standby for the sake of troubleshooting. I just want this issue to be fixed for everyone. Ill keep everyone in the loop.

Hi, I'm having the same issues with a new MSI build:

MSI X670E TOMAHAWK

AMD 7800 X3D

G.SKILL Trident NEO Z5 32G CL30

SAMSUNG 980pro 2T

Gigabyte Gaming 4080OC

I checked memory thinking it might be an issue with latest BIOS but is ok (0 errors).

I realized it only freezes when leaving the pc idle for maybe 15 or 20 minutes. Already modified energy settings to leave everything enabled but made no change.

The only thing out of order is "The description for Event ID 1 from source amd3dvcacheSvc cannot be found" error in the EventViewer. I'm trying to figure out what is causing this.

That is good to know... seems like maybe this is just a chipset problem possibly? I was having the same issue with my first motherboard. Then finally, it just stopped booting and was stuck on an error code(I can't remember the code off hand... but I ended up having to RMA a CPU and a motherboard.) I RMAed that board after a couple of days on the phone troubleshooting. I will give ASUS this... they have been more helpful than they have been in the past. The MSI board came in today. I will wait to see the troubleshooting steps with ASUS and go from there. Never hurts I guess to have a backup parts bin.. lol. All these issues.. kinda makes me wish I didn't swap from Intel. It seems like I always have the worst luck with AMD machines.
