My computer cursor won’t click on anything but it moves just fine , this is a windows ten I bought three years ago by the way. Anyone know why?

OMG, I just came here looking for a solution and cannot believe there is none after all this time. I read thru this entire thing, and not one of the solutions helped, even temporarily. Since there are literally, hundreds (which probably means there are thousands or tens of thousands) of folks with this problem, why can't we get some help from the makers of this product - MICROSOFT. I'm so sick of things working perfectly fine, then MS comes out with an update the breaks things. This has consistently happened many times, and I've been with Windows since the very beginning. I realize there are many different configurations they're dealing with, but this is an issue for so many people! HELP, MICROSOFT, HELP. WE CANNOT FIX THIS OURSELVES. YOU SHOULDN'T EXPECT US TO, ANYWAYS. Ok, rant over, and I feel just a little better. Now what??

For me, one of my drives died, and it got replaced and I am getting a new SSDI? I think? Soon (using a temp one for now). I forgot how my roomate described it, since it got fixed a bit ago, but I couldn't interact with anything that had files linked to the drive. Ontop of my ports were also dying, which is a direct computer thing. So maybe check your plugins and make sure nothing is dying or out of date/operating capacity?

Problem still here. Saw something interesting.

Windows will just suddenly decide to take away the mouse clicks. However - I could still open up new tabs in MS Edge. Couldnt close tabs. Couldn't click on anything else -but could open up new browser tabs. (by clicking on the plus symbol next to an open tab.)

You have to ctrl alt del to get the mouse back.

Sometimes that will cure it for a few seconds, other times, for a bit longer. Tested multiple mice - still the same. Nothing to do with the mouse - it is definitely a windows issue.

Any developments yet?

Some more evidence that hopefully will help.

Just turned laptop on and the mouse click only worked to drag a box on the desktop. But couldnt use it to active the taskbar at the bottom ((usually, dragging over with the mouse will make the task bar pop up).

I also couldnt click on anything on the taskbar or start bar.

But I could drag and make boxes on the desktop holding left click down.

CTRL ALT DEL brings the mouse back and I can once again use the mouse as it should be used.

Sometimes this will last for a while.. sometimes the whole session. Other times, I will keep needing to repeat the CTRL ALT DEL to get it back lots of times.

As I say, it is not a hardware issue. Wonder what it is?
