My computer cursor won’t click on anything but it moves just fine , this is a windows ten I bought three years ago by the way. Anyone know why?

For me I can use my mouse fine on browsers, taskbar, and windows start shortcuts, but I cannot click, open, or highlight anything on the desktop itself.

I had this problem then I realised that a button on my mouse had gotten stuck (I use a gaming mouse so it had a button on the side that had gotten stuck) and just needed fixing so before trying other solutions make sure to check all the buttons on your mouse to make sure they are not stuck or being held down

happens when mouse is dying, if the clicks dont take, or buttons feel held down, or mousewheel is acting backwards, check battery levels if you are on a wireless mouse.

there is other things, like some games may try to keep the mouse from clicking not in the game window, or usb adapter port may have damage (any of them damaged can cause issues with the rest of the usb ports) if its a physical port with something wrong, do tests and see which ones are best and which ones are worst, then just mark them and dont use them or get dummy usb plugs (just plastic no metal) and block the offending port.

Microsoft switched the default to the right click button on the mouse. Go to mouse settings and select the left click as default and will likely solve your problem :) !
