2023-10-17T13:35:14+00:00 I tried that. The instructions given in GitHub say to set the properties there, but you don't have to do that. The taskbar now behaves as it did in Windows 10. You can drag it to any position you want.
Thanks so very much!
PS Wouldn't it be nice if the team of MS experts had known this answer from the start? The reason the never do is that they're trained to give the MS answer only. That's what they always do best, and of course, that will always lead to the mess you find here.

2023-11-11T15:39:32+00:00 A ton of you people have jumped in with the most idiotic answers ever. What you suggest does NOT even remotely allow you to move the entire taskbar to the left our your screen. If you remember at all, in Windows 10, you could simply drag your taskbar to the top of your screen, or to the bottom, to the left, or right -- or the ENTIRE screen. This is not the alignment of the taskbar to the left or center of your bottom now default placement by MS of the taskbar. As always, they have taken away our ability to configure things to our own taste for better user experience, and gaslit us that they've done it to improve our experience. Every day, they play nanny, changing our settings without warning or any input from us. They keep cramming Edge and Bing down our throats, removing our ability to use the registry editor, and so many other Microsoft for Dummies usability.
I mentioned very early, that I actually found out a way to do what I wanted, but I did not share it. Go out and find it yourselves. It is not here, or in any Microsoft documentation. If you want to improve your OS to any level of what it used to be, you're not gonna get any help from Microsoft, and very seldom on this community, as this thread is an example.

2023-11-11T15:44:39+00:00 It is astounding that people have found this helpful. It is NOT, and it doesn't come close to answering the actual question. No sane person more than four years old gives two **** about aligning the taskbar. What they want to do is move it completely. The people answering seem to have forgotten that you could do that in Windows 10. You could drag the taskbar to any position on the screen (top, bottom, left, or right). That is the entire taskbar -- not the stupid alignment of icons and the search bar to the left, center, or right -- a completely nugatory setting now.
You know what I need now? How do I unsubscribe to these halfwit answers?

2023-10-25T15:36:23+00:00 Agreed. My Win 10 was just automatically updated to Win 11 and I cannot move the taskbar to the left side of the screen. Now my work is disrupted as I try to relearn all my methods. Thanks Microsoft!
