The taskbar takes up no vertical space if you autohide it. I know, this is too much trouble, and the obsession with having the taskbar on the left is overpowering.

I tried to autohide the task bar and found it to be inconsistent and doesn't always work. It would be more helpful to provide suggestions that actually work. It seems your ability for snark is intact yet unhelpful.

It is incredibly frustrating that this still hasn't been addressed, shocking frankly - this isn't the first thread on this either.

Agreed that ExplorerPatcher works, I used that solution for a while. Note, I was unable to apply certain patches and upgrades to Windows 11, I think likely because ExplorerPatcher was installed.

I have since downgraded to Windows 10. And after Microsoft pushed the Windows 11 to many devices in my network / family network, I've been scrambling to downgrade back to Windows 10 so that I can have the taskbar where it's supposed to be.

    Please fix this Microsoft!!

Sorry, link worked earlier, this worked as of 9:52:46 PM November 16, 2023,

    https://github.com/gjf/Windows-11-ExplorerPatcher-Installer

This tool allows to install/uninstall/update an ExplorerPatcher (dxgi.dll or ep_setup.exe) - a wonderful tool from Valentin-Gabriel Radu available at https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher

Works with both x64 and x32.

You can check the source in Win11EP.bat (yes, I am so dumb and lazy that I make this tool as command-line batch) or simply use compiled Win11EP.exe.

Moves the taskbar itself to the left side of the computer monitor screen like Windows 10 taskbar, NOT JUST the bar's information as so many answers to this question accomplish.

I had some tool that let me drag the taskbar to the left. That worked for a few years, until the MS update today. Via your link it returned to the left side again, GREAT!!!

    What I did:

    >PLOP<, the taskbar jumped back to the left!!!!
