this was the fix for me. I opened phone link, clicked on settings, and under features, i clicked the drop down for messages. I made sure the toggle for ON was checked. and then i selected "show replies from group chats as individual messages"

all of a sudden i started getting my messages.

Hope this works for anyone looking!

The app is riddled with problems. It was rushed out in a dysfunctional state, who knows why. Bluetooth connection is finicky and takes multiple tries. Even after you successfully connect, the phone app shows as disconnected. You can send messages but can't receive. All your text history is erased every time you restart the app. No group messaging, images, gifs, or really anything other than basic texting. It reminds me of computer functionality in the late 90s. I cannot understand how something like this was released to the public.

One user reported that changing the messaging setting to "Show preview when unlocked" fixed it. That did not work for me. I've tried adjusting every possible setting, restarting multiple times, reconnecting with Bluetooth multiple times. Nothing works.

Hopefully Microsoft will fix it in the next two to three years.

You're absolutely right. And there's another problem. The Bluetooth connection doesn't automatically work. In order for it to function, I have to turn the Bluetooth function on my iPhone off and then on again in order for it to link to PhoneLink. It's annoying. And that in addition to the messaging problem, makes me inclined to just ignore the app no matter how much I'd like to use it.

It’s definitely finicky. If it continues to be this unreliable the novelty will wear off and people just won’t bother using it.

    T H I S ! ! !

    And no group text notifications???
