All drivers are freshly installed and up to date. Graphics card is barely a year old and all cables also checked. The monitor thats not detected does work also.

Everything worked until 2days ago when windows updated and now windows does not detect the second display.

Please help thank you.

Hello ScrP, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

I understand that after an update the second monitor is not detected;

What exactly is the model and manufacturer of your graphics card?

Are you using an HDMI cable to connect the second monitor?

Are you using a laptop or desktop?

Before answering the question, I suggest you try to force the detection of the second monitor;

Press Windows key + i and go to System;

Click Display;

Scroll down to Multiple screens, click Detect;

Then press the keys together: Windows key + P and select the Extend option;

Verify that the second monitor is detected;

See you soon!

    Windows 11 updates render my second monitor undetectable most times after a forced reboot.

    My configuration is:

    ACER Aspire AV14-52P

    Second monitor is an older LCD TV with VGA cable to a Belkin USB-C adpaptor with

    Ethernet and VGA monitor connection.

    Works flawlessly until a windows 11 update.

    * The previous configuration is missing after update (location and knowledge of previous setting)

    * Hit detect with monitor on , and it will not find the monitor

    * If I unplug the VGA cable from adaptor, a sound is heard from the system detecting that the VGA device has been removed and/or inserted.

    In the past, a combination of reboots, and reattaching USB and/or VGA cables MANY TIMES would be eventually a success. I ran out of patience this time and did find some stuff out there that gave me the

    idea to remove the device driver for the Display adapter and then reboot.

    This worked.

    Specifically went into the OLD device manager (which has been obscured by new interface)

    Just go into the gear thing, "settings" and in the find settings type "device manager"

    Go down to the "Display adapters" , where in my case I found "Intel(R) Iris(R) XE Graphics"

    I uninstalled it and rebooted system. This fixed it.

    Wonder if it will work next time.....

    Very frustrating having to spend so much time with these kinds of things.

    Same thing here. My laptop, asus rog zephyrus g14, does not detect other monitors, though it used to have no problems with it. The cable and the second monitor are fine, I checked them with another laptop. I thought it's about updates or drivers, but till now nothing helps. I already agree it might be because of windows 11, I cried for days trying to make this laptop work properly at the beginning, wanted to give it back to the seller. The hardware is good, but the soft is just unbearable. Next time I'm buying mac just to not stress so much. But till then I am left with no second monitor. I am extremely upset and disappointed.
