All drivers are freshly installed and up to date. Graphics card is barely a year old and all cables also checked. The monitor thats not detected does work also.

Everything worked until 2days ago when windows updated and now windows does not detect the second display.

Please help thank you.

Hello ScrP, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

I understand that after an update the second monitor is not detected;

What exactly is the model and manufacturer of your graphics card?

Are you using an HDMI cable to connect the second monitor?

Are you using a laptop or desktop?

Before answering the question, I suggest you try to force the detection of the second monitor;

Press Windows key + i and go to System;

Click Display;

Scroll down to Multiple screens, click Detect;

Then press the keys together: Windows key + P and select the Extend option;

Verify that the second monitor is detected;

See you soon!

    My system just updated Feb 2024 and now my laptop will not detect a second monitor. I have an Intel(R) uhd graphics card, and my system is totally up to date. Is there a work around or a driver that needs to be updated? Thanks

    Same boat here... I literally just unplugged my computer to move it to another room and now it won't detect either of my 2nd monitors (I've tried two).

    When I try to detect a new monitor nothing happens. I managed to force find it but it won't work and I'm stuck with this and no idea how to fix the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (No ACPI Support) issue. I updated my graphics drivers and windows is up to date.

    Yes I am in the same boat. I have three dell 2723qe displays. . .When I turn the computer on, I see the boot up logo on all three screens, so I know there is not hardware issue, cable or otherwise. However when the window's login screen comes up, on the main display of the three is working. And then after booting into windows, same. Only the main display works. the other two are not seen and cannot be detected.

    This is really killing my workflow as I work remotely. 100% sure this is a Windows issue or at least windows made some type of change. This setup has worked without flawlessly for over a year until this my most recent update.
