All drivers are freshly installed and up to date. Graphics card is barely a year old and all cables also checked. The monitor thats not detected does work also.

Everything worked until 2days ago when windows updated and now windows does not detect the second display.

Please help thank you.

Hello ScrP, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

I understand that after an update the second monitor is not detected;

What exactly is the model and manufacturer of your graphics card?

Are you using an HDMI cable to connect the second monitor?

Are you using a laptop or desktop?

Before answering the question, I suggest you try to force the detection of the second monitor;

Press Windows key + i and go to System;

Click Display;

Scroll down to Multiple screens, click Detect;

Then press the keys together: Windows key + P and select the Extend option;

Verify that the second monitor is detected;

See you soon!

    Hi - I actually got the second monitor to detect and come back quicker this time, for what ever reason.

    (a few times After I wrote in this forum)

    I only had to unplug the USB-C to VGA about 5 times with warm reboots, then a cold reboot (shutdown to ground).

    In the past I have done several other things when this happened. Never sure which thing fixed it. Sometimes

    unplugging the VGA plug from monitor to the USBC-VGA adaptor.

    Not an exact science here.

    Every single update since I bought my new ACER laptop with windows 11

    my second monitor becomes undetectable. I am using a USB C adapter with

    a VGA type plug. Works great ALWAYS after much trial and error for hours

    reconnecting , rebooting .... it is the worst version of windows for this machine in my configuration.

    Difficult and no intelligent solution thus far. I saw this enormous list of possible things to do.

    Just got another update, and sure enough, back to trial and error. I am a retired IT person

    who knows enough about systems and how they should operate

    I just wrote a whole thing above here. Will copy and paste below here.

    My system just updated Feb 2024 and now my laptop will not detect a second monitor. I have an Intel(R) uhd graphics card, and my system is totally up to date. Is there a work around or a driver that needs to be updated? Thanks
