Windows 11 task bar won't stay hidden

The taskbar won't stay hidden. And yes I've checked the automatically hide the task bar setting. I've also triad a myriad of other "solutions and fixes", I've found on the web to no avail. This one issue, although it may seem innocuous, is the only reason I have not upgraded to Windows 11 on several of the machines I use, and will not as long as Windows 10 remains available until this issue is fixed. Please please take this seriously and provide a permanent solution, not one of these solutions typically found on blogs such as "reset Windows Explorer" from the task manager, Although this particular fix does work, it only works for a short time and then the problem returns. I'm sure there are many others that are very frustrated by this problem besides myself. The taskbar reappearing steals the bottom portion of any window that has been maximized, so if there's a button you need to get to you must do one of two things; reduce the size of the window in the app you're in so that the task bar isn't covering the button you need to get to, or do the one other temporary fix; click on the Windows keyboard key - twice - to make the task bar go away. Then if at any time your mouse pointer even just grazes the top of the task bar location at the bottom of the screen, it's back and stays unhidden. Any fix needs to be independent of any application running, it should be a native action that can't be overridden by other applications. I know that when there's a notification this brings up the taskbar, well okay, I'll acknowledge the notification to make the taskbar go away in this case, but this is NOT the issue either.

I am 100% with you on the annoyance factor with the taskbar overlaying various application windows. Insanity!

Like you experienced, my task bar would not stay hidden. Through trial and error I figured out that the taskbar would hide if I unclicked the option "show flashing on taskbar apps" option in the settings (it is just one setting away from the non-functional "automatically hide taskbar option").

I think that the folks that develop Windows need to stop thinking about adding crazy options in its settings and focus their attention on fixing the problems that prevent you from being able to do basic things like interact with applications.

    Same here - this is _beyond_ annoying. In all previous Windows versions I simply put the Taskbar on the right side, so it would not take up vertical space.

    Now they remove the option to even _put_ the taskbar to the side and the workaround (I don't like it but it is better than having the taskbar uselessly take up vertical space) doesn't even work most of the time! HELLO MICROSOFT MOST MONITORS HAVE MORE HORIZONTAL THAN VERTICAL SPACE!

    What a buggy OS. I switched to Linux on my home computer, but at work unfortunately I have no choice...

    coming next month  RETURN OF THE DEMON TASK BAR   starring windows eleven.   critics are saying  '' it will keep you on the edge of your seat ''  and  '' dont turn your back on it ''  and  '' windows 7 was much better ''

    You're not alone I'm still having the same problem. It doesn't happen every day but I can hide the taskbar and it'll stay hidden sometimes for a few days sometimes for a couple weeks and then out of the blue, poof right back to telling me that I can't hide my taskbar on multiple screens when I've never had more than one screen hooked up to this computer. I have never dual monitored this thing out so what other screens could it possibly be talking about unless somebody is secretly screen sharing themselves to my computer and spying on me. I really don't think it's that since my computer is never online. All I use the thing for is a media server. It watches movies and views pictures that's it. It doesn't go online for anything. The more time goes on the more I'm starting to realize that the whole world is falling apart and honestly I'm starting to think that all of the bad things that are going wrong in our lives is more spiritual than it is technological. That's just my personal opinion because it seems to me like all of my technology keeps failing me and I'm not an idiot. I am a little bit tech savvy so when I do everything I know how to do on my end and technology just keeps failing...that gives me the impression that something more is going on perhaps a demonic influence or perhaps the essence of evil that is sweeping across the land. I have no idea, but I know that Google is a very satanic company. That's just my opinion and I don't expect anyone to agree with that, but there's my two cents. I hope you can sort the problem out because I haven't been able to and tech support and everyone else can't sort it out either. Honestly it seems like a permanent Google flaw and since Google doesn't give a damn about any of us, I doubt this will ever be resolved in fact I expect even more problems to arise as time goes on. I miss Windows 7 ultimate. I got to where I finally liked Windows 10 and now that's a thing of the past too. Personally I think Windows 11 sucks. Not totally, but mostly. Good luck with everything and I hope you can solve the problem. 👍🏽

    It's an infinite (no fun) game of "Wach-O-Mole", when the task bar won't auto hide. Usually just restarting Windows "File Explorer" does the trick for me. Alas, that no longer works. Very gratefull to have found your solution, via trial and error, of unchecking the "show flashing on taskbar apps". Now I have that extra screen real-estate that makes a differenece.
