windows 11 black screen after login

recently my windows 11 PC has been showing a black screen after i login. i can still use my cursor, and i can use Ctrl Alt Del to open task manager, but it isn’t very useful as it just closes immediately. i have tried many troubleshooting steps, such as starting in safe mode and editing the bios, among others. but, no matter what i try, nothing works.

i have a prebuilt CyberpowerPC C-series gaming PC from 2019, with an AMD ryzen 5 5600 series CPU, a Gigabyte B450M motherboard, and an AMD geforce RX graphics card ( i do not know the exact model number ). I have made no hardware modifications to the PC.

    I have this problem every now and then after Windows Updates.

    Windows loads in a black screen and only the mouse shows. Not even cntrl alt del works, Windows Repair does not help, Sytem Restore does not help, removing update does not help.

    I believe is a problem with the video card and the integrated video capabilities of the intel chip.

    I SOLVED IT by unplugging the monitors, sutting down the pc, turning it on, waiting for it to load and connecting the monitor, the screen loads and works normally.

    Hope this works for some of you.

    If you can find a permanent solution please advice.

    Hi,

    It seemed to me too that some driver or link gets lost.

    My solution was to force reboot in safe mode.

    On my desktop rebooting in safe mode fixed it.

    This is ridiculous. I am using my desktop now, to respond as I am having the same problem on my Win 11 laptop. 2nd time now, AFTER WINDOWS UPDATE, restarts to blank screen with cursor and only can get to task manager. Last time (which was last week) the same thing happened and I had to go through several steps to get to an earlier restore point. However, a week later, I ran Windows update and the same thing happened again. Like I said, this is ridiculous. I guess I'll be turning off Win updates for a good while. This is only happening on my Win11 laptop, not my WIn10 desktop. Hummmm.... C'mon Microsoft!

    Disabling the App Readiness service worked for us right now. Maybe setting the service to automatic (delayed start) may work too, if you're concerned about disabling the service.

    This is what worked: scanned my drives and memory, all working fine. Still can't get to an earlier restore point, so I am un-installing the latest Win 11 "quality" update, which is taking more than a few minutes to process. (eyeroll) So, after about 10 min, it took to uninstall most recent "quality" updates, I am now able to restore my Win 11 HP laptop to an earlier restore point. System restore worked, back in business.

    This is definitely related to Win 11 updates, not optional updates, but the regular necessary updates. Win 10 updates I've had no problems with. A course, Win10 will be gone 10/2024. In the meantime, Microsoft needs to fix this.
