Windows 11 folder keeps reverting back to read only

I have tried CMD checks and fixes. Done a clean boot. Have installed take ownership plug-in. Changed controlled folder access which was set to off. I have replaced the folder with a newly created one and copied the files back into the new one and it has the same issue as the old folder. The folder that is affected is C:\Users\USER\Appdata\Roaming\Vortex\downloads.

I need this folder to not be read only as Vortex cannot function with the folder permissions as they are.

    John,

    You replied to Aaron Blatter who was a user that was instructed by a Mostafa Sadeghi to run a command that was very specific to his computer. It was this command:

    attrib -r "C:\Users\Mocah\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\downloads\*" /s

    Unfortunately, there was some communication confusion and Arron misunderstood Mostafa's "breakdown of the command" to be separate commands to be entered. Command lines, and users with no experience at the command line, can be a challenge.

    Anyhow, it's unlikely that anything in that conversation was directly applicable to you. What issue are you having? I assume it has some relation to the topic title, "Windows 11 folder keeps reverting back to read only", but the box labelled "Read-only (Only applies to files in the folder)" does not mean the folder itself is read-only, so the thread title is misleading.

    We have to look at what is specifically happening in your case. Please provide details.

    Every file that gets downloaded still has the read only check mark on the folder once it is transfered to another location and then is not accessible

    As stated above, multiple times, that "read-only" item is NOT the source of your problem. It does NOT mean that the folder is read-only. See my previous replies for details.

    What do you mean by "not accessible"? Are you seeing an error? If so, please post a screenshot.

    The problem you are encountering needs clarification.

    As I've stated several times already, the item labelled "Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)" does NOT mean the folder is read-only. It is (again, as I've stated already) only a control which will let you set, or unset, all files within the folder read-only.

    Something else is causing your issue with Excel. Please post a screenshot of the error that you receive when you try to save. Hopefully, there will be a clue there to lead to us the actual root cause of the issue.

    Hello LesFerch,

    Thanks for your response. Surely we are not the only ones with this problem.?

    I am about ready to revert to Win 10, .... I open Excel files, work in them, but can't save them due to 'read only'.

    Do not find the best way to change from read only so I can save the files to my computer. I travel to remote locations, so need the files on my harddrive.

    Any help you have is appreciated.
