Lightshot not working after windows update

exactly same issue that i have been facing on Win 11 machine.

I use lightshot as it's the most convenient tool for taking screen snippets I've ever experienced, but after my new laptop updated last week, lightshot is no longer running from the background. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but did not work.

Hi, after weeks of personal testing, i have found a final solution to this matter.

The problem which occurs happens only when you're having 2 graphic cards, one integrated and second the dedicated.

Mostly it happens on laptops as you'll notice.

Because of integrated cpu's gpu and, the graphic cards, the problem shows up preventing from proper opening the lightshot app.

Just to note, that Intel® Driver & Support Assistant is quite useful, it will not solve the issue.

What will solve this issue will be switching the "nvidia preferred graphics processor" back to "Auto-select", or else "Integrated graphics".

Just bumping to say, this is what fixed it for me. I have two Win11 machines, one where lightshot was broken and the other (newer!) where it worked fine. Again, the app was not showing in the system tray, so there was no way to access settings or use an alternative method to trigger screen capture, there was simply no way to interface with the process at all.

The difference was the Intel Arc graphics driver, lightshot was back where it belongs upon reboot after installation. Hope this helps someone else.

Edit: my machine in question is a Razer Blade, with nvidia's Optimus. aka, it switches dynamically between integrated and discrete graphics processors/display adapters based on load/demand. I didn't have to fiddle in any control panel, the Intel driver & support assistant simply told me to update the Intel graphics driver, and that solved it. As an aside, that driver (and the two wireless drivers it asked me to update) do NOT show up in the "optional updates" section of Windows Update, no matter how many times I refresh it and check.

I tried so many ways for Light Shot to activate on Windows 10 on my laptop.

but it is not working or activated.

for hotkey change purposes icon itself not showing in the taskbar due to not being able to resolve this issue.. even when I try to start the app from the windows app list it's not open..

please give a proper solution for this big issue of light shot not working on window 10
