Hi,

on an HP computer click on Start and type HP System Event Utility: right click on it and remove this application, this will stop caps and num notification.

I had the same thing happening on my Dell laptop. I had to go to Computer Management -> Services -> Dell Peripheral Manager and stop the service. That immediately stopped the annoying notifications. I set that service to start manually instead of automatic. I hope this helps someone.

I have been in touch with HP support for this issue. They have given me a registry change, 3 x SP updates and various other things to try, including scrapping and re-installing the O/S (which I didn't do!).

Nothing has worked so far. HP Support is useless.

Everything I read says it is not anything to do with Microsoft and that it is something from the manufacturer, but if there are Lenovo, Dell and HP computers getting this issue, then i wonder.

I don't understand how no company can provide a proper way to control this feature and turn it off and on as desired.

I have spent hour investigating this and talking to HP support, but have got nowhere.
