How to stop Windows 11 updates forever?

I'd be interested to know how many times you format the hard drive and reinstall Windows. Because that seems to be the go to "fix" for Windows Users. It fixes absolutely nothing. Because a fix is something you do and a format just deletes the problem and starts from 0 again.

The computer does become slower and slower. MS claims it's hard drive age, memory issues, etc. But that's false.

Microsoft trying to save the average computer user (the ones who format at the slightest hint of a problem, because apparently no one keeps any actual work, photos, etc on their computers) from themselves. I get it. Some people shouldn't play with settings or be able to view hidden folders, etc.

But MS is the single most cobbled together OS in history. They have things still in from Windows 95 (or maybe even 3.11). But since they pushed it on people in the 90's... Well, here we are. Once schools adopted it, businesses followed, and even Steve Jobs seen the writing on the wall. People who wanted to control their systems used Macs. Now, Mac and Windows both push updates and the only recourse is to use a flavor of Linux. But companies force you to use MS products much of the time. Especially, businesses.

Bottom line: Bad software = memory leaks, bloated disk usage, and slows your system over time.

And not offering a way to shut off updates that sometimes BREAK your operating system are unacceptable! But then you get the people going "It works for me hurr durr".

In fact, I have never had to format my hard drive and reinstall Windows. And that's not the 'go to fix' either.

Would you like to know what the go-to fix really is? I'll tell you, even though I doubt you'll believe me. But I have relied on it many times in 27 years of using a PC, and it has never let me down.

The go-to fix is: restoring a backup.

The type of backup I'm talking about is called an image. An image is an exact copy of your hard drive, compressed into a single, large file. When you restore an image, your computer goes back in time to exactly the way it was at the moment the image was made. It's the only type of time travel that works.

Making and restoring images is easy (once you learn how) and quick. My image application makes images every day, automatically, without interrupting my work. Frankly, I would be afraid to use a computer without backing up.
