Keep mobile hotspot always on

Hi, I'm using my desktop PC as a makeshift router due to my current cirucmstances.

I have an issue with the hotspot randomly turning off, despite my phone being connected to it. I can't seem to figure out a proper reason for this. I've seen many tutorials but they all mention the standard solution of turning off power saving, then disallowing the PC to turn off the device in device manager, but none have worked. The PC doesn't lose internet connection, is still running and has a device connected, but it still randomly shuts off the hotspot.

Another question would be if there were any way to keep the mobile hotspot always on? As in, have the hotspot turn itself on after wake from sleep, hibernation or shut down. Theoretically I could have a batch script turn it on, but I think that only applies to starting from shutdown, not the other 2 sleep states.

My PC is currently running windows 10 build 19045. The motherboard has wifi built in, but I also have an external wifi dongle attached to the two ports on the back.

I also think there might be some correlation with your school's network. Additionally, they may have configured limitations or restrictions on your network. As I told you previously, these tests should be repeated on a different network or a home network.

It seems like instead of shutting off, now the PC reports the hotspot as being on, but my device randomly disconnects and can't find the network anymore.

Windows also reports connections as 0/8. The network only re-appears to my device after around... 5 minutes of no connection? Restarting hotspot, turning wifi on and off on the device all didn't seem to work. I'm rather confused at this odd behaviour.

At times my device also randomly loses connection and the hotspot disappears from the network list. Windows however still reports the device as connected - 1/8.

Edit: it seems like the strength of the hotspot is down too, I can barely leave the room now. With my device right next to the PC, I only get 2 bars signal.

Have you already tried connecting to the mobile hotspot with another device? Is the behavior still the same?

When the hotspot network appears in the list of available networks, are the WiFi signal bars at maximum? What bandwidth is configured in the mobile hotspot settings? If you prefer, post the screenshot.

yes.

No, the signal is weaker, and the connection randomly disappears from my phone's list of networks. My phone randomly loses connection at times, and I can't find the network. Sometimes, windows still claims that my phone is still connected although my phone is not.

When I don't have the antenna connected, no. With antenna, it's max. Without, only 2 out of 4 bars.

What bandwidth is configured in the mobile hotspot settings? If you prefer, post the screenshot. I have it configured to 5GHz band.
