Hi, I'm using my desktop PC as a makeshift router due to my current cirucmstances.
I have an issue with the hotspot randomly turning off, despite my phone being connected to it. I can't seem to figure out a proper reason for this. I've seen many tutorials but they all mention the standard solution of turning off power saving, then disallowing the PC to turn off the device in device manager, but none have worked. The PC doesn't lose internet connection, is still running and has a device connected, but it still randomly shuts off the hotspot.
Another question would be if there were any way to keep the mobile hotspot always on? As in, have the hotspot turn itself on after wake from sleep, hibernation or shut down. Theoretically I could have a batch script turn it on, but I think that only applies to starting from shutdown, not the other 2 sleep states.
My PC is currently running windows 10 build 19045. The motherboard has wifi built in, but I also have an external wifi dongle attached to the two ports on the back.

I also think there might be some correlation with your school's network. Additionally, they may have configured limitations or restrictions on your network. As I told you previously, these tests should be repeated on a different network or a home network.

after a full day of using my laptop as the hotspot, I haven't had a connection drop so far. my desktop has had a reliable connection, and my phone as well (with an exception of two times when I lost connection possibly due to leaving the range of the hotspot). I haven't seen the laptop hotspot turn itself off on its own.
speak of the devil... it just happened - my laptop hotspot turned itself off.
I assume this means the issue lies with the provided internet and not with the windows hotspot itself?
I'll take that as nothing more can be done here, as there is no alternate network for me to try.
Thanks for all the help and troubleshooting, but I guess this is something I gotta live with :|
On a different note, is there any way to get the PC to turn on the hotspot on boot? (wake from hibernate and sleep too)?
