Hi, I'm using my desktop PC as a makeshift router due to my current cirucmstances.
I have an issue with the hotspot randomly turning off, despite my phone being connected to it. I can't seem to figure out a proper reason for this. I've seen many tutorials but they all mention the standard solution of turning off power saving, then disallowing the PC to turn off the device in device manager, but none have worked. The PC doesn't lose internet connection, is still running and has a device connected, but it still randomly shuts off the hotspot.
Another question would be if there were any way to keep the mobile hotspot always on? As in, have the hotspot turn itself on after wake from sleep, hibernation or shut down. Theoretically I could have a batch script turn it on, but I think that only applies to starting from shutdown, not the other 2 sleep states.
My PC is currently running windows 10 build 19045. The motherboard has wifi built in, but I also have an external wifi dongle attached to the two ports on the back.

I also think there might be some correlation with your school's network. Additionally, they may have configured limitations or restrictions on your network. As I told you previously, these tests should be repeated on a different network or a home network.
update: it seems like my windows hotspot is turning itself off again without warning.
I didn't set a static IP address. when I set the DNS, I instantly lost internet connection.
Well if the problem appears only after about 5-6 hours it is still an annoyance but it is a bearable annoyance.
When you set up the manual DNS for the first time on the PC instead of on the phone by mistake, in addition to the DNS, did you also set a static IP address? If yes, what IP address did you set?
Note: If you no longer feel like doing further testing we can end here.
The timing doesn't seem to be consistent but it seems to happen after around 6 or so hours.
I've already turned off power saving and reset the DNS.
Honestly at this point I think I'm just gonna give up, it happens around 2 times a day or so and its just a mild annoyance. I think dealing with the issue is going to be more a hassle than it's worth.
