I cannot find Quick Access in the new updated file explorer.

I completed the latest Windows update this morning and opened File Explorer, and the quick access was missing. I can still add files to quick access, but it is nowhere to be seen. When I search the internet, they refer to how great the new file explorer is. Without quick access, it is pretty useless to me, and I want to find out how to get it back.

I do not have AAD. However, the descriptions I see on the internet imply that I am looking at the AAD version and not the consumer version. A lot of the information to describe the new file explorer states the following "Users signed in with Azure Active Directory (AAD) will see a recommended files strip with thumbnail previews. Consumer devices will only show the “Quick Access”, “Favorites” and “Recent” sections."

I wish to see the “Quick Access”, “Favorites” and “Recent” sections." but cannot work out how to do it.

Hi,
Same problem here.
Under Privacy, here is just no such setting. All I can see is:

What can I do now? I just can't pin anything. Can't add folders to Home. Best I can do is pin them to Start which is far from ideal.

Thanks

Quentin

I fixed this by un-checking the Show Recommended Section option.

Quick access tiles are back, but they are now arranged in a horizontal list. Seems like a couple of bugs here. But at least I have my quick action icons back.

I have found something that helped me.

On the Folder Options navigate to View, then scroll all the way down to Navigation pane and uncheck all except for "show this pc"

This way it shows your pinned items - can also go "decrease s[ace between items (compact view)" to make the spaces smaller

Sad that the client has to fix what the supplier produces

I don't know if this will help anyone or not. I, too, am annoyed by things being fixed that weren't broken to begin with. After trying to find the checkbox listed in several replies on this post, I was unable to find it (below). I only showed "Show recently used files", "Show frequently used folders", and "Show files from Office.com". After trying for too long to fix this, I was able to get it to work by doing the following:

In the lefthand pane in explorer, I right-clicked in the "white space". I saw the options: "Show Libraries", "Show all folders", and "Expand to current folder".

It appears that "Show libraries" is irrelevant. Checking or unchecking this doesn't do much on my end.

The "show all folders" box, however, changes the pane a lot. When I uncheck that box, it goes back to what I want to see, allowing me to see my quick access section and it appears to be "normal" on my end. When checked, it shows all folders and takes away the quick access section altogether.

In short, simply uncheck "show all folders" in the lefthand pane after right-clicking and it might fix the issue. Hopefully this helps SOMEONE.

In the most recent update, "Show recently used files in Quick access" is not listed as an option to check.

    Worked like a champ.
