I noticed this bug after i updated my windows 11 I don't know if that is the problem just saying, any advice is welcome.

Have you already checked the settings in notepad? If not please follow the steps below.

-Open Notepad.

-Click on the "File" menu.

-Select "Options" or "Settings" (depending on your Windows version).

-In the "Preferences" or "Startup" tab, look for an option related to session or file restoration.

-Disable or uncheck the option that says something like "Restore previous session" or "Reopen files from the last session."

If you have any additional questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks

As a blind screen reader (JAWS / NVDA) user gouing to File menu got me nowhere. There is no Settings or Options as a menu item.

I got sighted assistance and found out that Settings is in the menubar at the same level as File,Edit and View and not navigable by arrow keys. The menubar is accessible just with the Alt key.

So using Alt+S puts one in the Settings menu! And there I found the Opening Files option.

It is incorrect and bad usability to set "Open content from previous session" as the default radio button choice. The other option "Open in a new window" should be the default.

In the what's new or tips section the presence of the other choice should be indicated with a description of how to access it.

Thanks for this, it was my solution. I use text files a lot so this file duplication was driving me crazy.
A simple Alt+s brought up the settings where I cured all my craziness :-)
So many of the old windows settings are dissappearing, its like the developers don't use it themselves or they would make it easier rather than having to find hacks and work arounds like us folks have to.
    Cheers, MickyTheKidd

Which wired developer or bad product manager ever think of this non-sense feature???? I open a file and it opens the previous one??? How about I open every folder I open previous folder too? How about I open my front door and my back door opens too??? How about I open an App and previous App opens too?????

Yeah its so stupid, I thought I had a virus since it just started happening out of nowhere, took me a while to realize that it was opening the previous text file, since I deal with a lot of them. Windows was fine the way it was many years ago, everything **snip** is just making it worse.
