I see Microsoft is at it again... forcing new UNINSTALLABLE apps in the latest update (Sept 26/2023) to us... What the heck is Dev Home (Preview) and what does it do and how can you get rid of it???

If you had Dev Home (Preview) installed during the September 26/2023 update and don't want it...

I did a lot of seaching, I found a way to get rid of it...

A - To uninstall Dev Home Preview, you can follow the steps below:

Open the Settings app.

Click on Apps.

Scroll down and locate Dev Home Preview.

Click on it and select Uninstall.

B - If you are unable to uninstall Dev Home Preview using the above method, you can try using PowerShell to remove it. Here are the steps:

Open PowerShell (Terminal) as an administrator.

Type 

Get-AppxPackage *devhome* | Remove-AppxPackage

and press Enter.

This should remove Dev Home Preview from your device.

B worked perfectly for me... doing that removed it from the Start Menu... Microsoft Store and Settings - Apps

    Hi Jack,
    I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

    Dev Home is a development tool provided in Windows. It only downloads if you select Development as user Intent in Settings > Personalization.
    Device usage. Have you turned it on?

    I have nothing turned on in Settings > Personalization. Device usage... there's no uninstall for it... how can i get rid of it... in Settings - Apps - Installed Apps... there is Dev Home (Preview), but when you click the 3 dots, uninstall is greyed out and not accessible and it's shown in the start menu.

    Ref choice A. Uninstall is greyed out. Why would the uninstall be greyed out by MS. How many users are app developers. Why would MS install this on every machine. In the past a patch would inform PC owner what is being installed and could choose what to install.

    You are not the only one. I have nothing turned on in Personalization, I have no use for this app, and I'm unable to delete it.

    B did it for me also. I think MS should look into this,

    Yep, B was the ideal way. It should not have installed automatically though, so that is something which I will call it odd.
