Alt + tab no longer switches to last window in Windows 11

Hi all,

One of the most useful shortcuts I use all the time is not working for me on my new laptop with Windows 11. I used to use ALT + TAB to switch between the current window and the last window I used. Now if I use it it switches between the current window and the first open window (not the most recent). How can I get it so it switches between the two most recently used?

    Thank you very much.
    I have a programmable mechanical keyboard, so I swapped L and R ALT.
    Now, not only can I use ALT-Tab, it functions like it does in browsers, so I can use SHIFT with it to reverse the direction.

    You've saved me mountains of hatred.
    I still detest the **** at MS that did this, but at least now I can work around it.

    I had the same issue and blamed windows update. Turns out the culprit was my keyboard that had both MAC and Windows capability. I accidentally toggled to MAC and it switched my alt key with my window key. Switched it back to windows mode and I get the alt + tab fuction back to toggle between the last window.

    I have solved my issue using this

    • change between Windows mode (Fn + A)

    Now it was working fine

    How did you change the right click in File Explorer to the old way?

    When I right click the menu has 'Show more options' at the bottom. When selected that has the Windows 10 menu items. But this is an extra step to get to the old accustomed menu.

    To change, does this require this registry change: reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve

    Or is there another way to change?
