I can not believe what's happening. I haven't had this bug up until today. Note: I keep my W11 fully updated. Today this update came up on my system - KB5034123. After installing it, the "Expand to open folder" functionality is broken on my system. So that's odd.

    Hi everyone,

Good news on my side, after applying today's received update:

Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034123)

the bug looks fixed on my system.

I could uncheck the "Show all folders" option, that was a kind of workaround, and all still works fine.

Hi MSFT, any information about when this BUG will be fixed?

Note if anyone from MSFT is reading this thread, the "Expand To Current Folder not working" is a BUG in Windows, not some fancy new feature Windows Inisders are suggesting. This is a BUG, or more specifically a REGRESSION.

Expand to Current folder was always working in Windows, but it stopped working in a recent version of Windows 11 with the new redesigned Windows Explorer, and since then it does not work. I'd really appreciate fix for this behavior because it's something that I use on daily, or more specifically that does not work in folders which I use on daily basis.

    Thanks

I've checked several forums and this is obviously a bug from an update. Perhaps someone from Microsoft will be reading this thread and let us know when the bug will be fixed. It's very irritating to open a file or folder and not be able to see the directory tree without more clicking.

Why do so called "experts" just spout standard instructions that obviously don't solve the problem or why else would the originator have made the enquiry ?
