Failed Install 2023-09 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5030310)

they weren't able to help me either. for whatever reason, they could not connect to me using the quick assist app. they would not help me do it manually since i am using build 22631 (insider preview). I later found out the issue with quick assist may have been because Edge was not up to date. i managed to get windows update to produce another error code when trying to install the update. This time it was 0x80246019. This showed up after updating edge. according to google search, windows defender can cause this. I had found evidence before of something being blocked if you recall. When I told windows to search for updates after updating edge, an additional update was found - an update stack package. so. now i have disabled defender blocking and real time features for the moment. and am attempting to download and install that. I don't think I have ever had an issue with windows update not working properly because of an outdated browser, not even back in the day when I was using windows 95, when windows update was run from directly for the Microsoft website. i think it was windowsupdate.microsoft.com or something like that, back then. anyways, fingers crossed. I hope it works now.

the other thing i did was shutdown Malwarebytes all the way (exited the program, instead of just turning off the protections

I was working with them for over a hour - didn't help. My PC works fine without the update, so I gave up.

I think i will be contacting Microsoft support as well. disabling controlled folder access did nothing for me. i ended up still getting the 0x800f081f error.

In the end these broken instructions didn’t work for me.

Within the Windows Updater, I clicked on get help option and explained my issue over chat. Support downloaded a package that reinstalled windows 12 as there were corrupted files. Once that was all done, these updates went through with no issue.
