How delete messages that appear in Phone Link but are not on my phone?

After reading a great number of posts on this topic, I will make the following and final observation:

So much seems to depend on the phone make and model and the laptop/PC in use. Additionally, the question has to do with the messaging software in use. The Google app for this may be more flexible than the Windows app, but the question started, so far as I can tell, about the use of the app as it was when it was found on the MS app store. I'm using the Windows app on an HP laptop running WIN 11 and linking wasn't any obvious problem until I tried to do something as simple as deleting a message.

For those in my situation, as best as I can tell, the messages will be held for about 30 days and the drop off which makes me think that they're being held an interim memory space that has been restricted for some program design reasons. I will use what I can and make changes if they seem necessary.

douglasbaker4 - I replied from my phone and didn't see some of the messages in the thread. It seems to me that you are trying to see the image of your phone on your WIN computer so you can delete messages. I don't do this. I don't use the option to link the phone screen to the WIN computer using Phone Link. I just perform the deletes as I outlined in a previous post on this forum.

People that see messages in WIN Phone Link app but not on their phone's Phone Link app probably aren't using the Google Messages app, which allows you to see the spam and archived messages and delete them. I do not have that problem. I can delete all messages and they don't appear in my WIN Phone Link app.

I hope that clears things up. Sorry for any confusion.

On my phone there is no "start" or "ALLAPPS". What I have posted is shown in the previously attached pictures which is what is on my phone. I am able to delete any conversation.

Ok, there is success in this process; just to sequential steps missing. So you go either my Yuhao description or on Pg1 of this topic, let's to the 2nd line which begins

• On phone open Link to Windows app and tap "start"

        - what it should say is open ALL APPS, then go to Windows phone link
  
        - tap Windows Phone Link
  
        - THEN in the upper left hand corner directly words "ALL APPS", there appears
  
           "open phone screen".
  

This allows the PC link bad boy messages to show up. (Gee); on PC select each separately

then select the "3 dots" option and hit delete.

And your done. Missing or lack of detail really not that bad, except when having to fly a plane after the pilot

experiences a black out or heart attack................... and your taking instructions from the ground.............................

Below is a fairly concise recipe from a MS tech Yuhao (his writeup is Page 1 of this topic) but will repeat here.

1. While his instructions are clear up ensuring that both PC and Phone have phone link, and they are waiting for a human to act. Things fall apart with Yuhao 2nd instruction - "cell phone open link to Windows app and tap Start" - on my Samsung, in the Windows app, there is no "Start". As such, the cell phone screen does not appear on my PC.

2)As I've come to learn in my accounting profession of which software and IT play an integral part, software instructions are sometimes either leave you hanging and/or we can't think of every software issue that may pop up. After all, there are lots if different software interconnections that may not work appropriately.

This means that even if you delete a message on your phone, it will still remain on your PC app. This is a limitation of the current version of Phone Link and not a bug or error.

However, if you have a Samsung device, you may be able to delete messages from both your phone and PC by using the Link to Windows feature on your Samsung devices. This feature allows you to mirror your phone screen on your PC and access your phone apps, including messages. To use this feature, you need to have the Link to Windows app installed on your phone and the Phone Link app on your PC. You also need to sign in with the same Microsoft account on both devices. To delete messages using Link to Windows, follow these steps:

• On your PC, open the Phone Link app and select Link to Windows.
• On your phone, open the Link to Windows app and tap Start.
• Wait for your phone screen to appear on your PC.
• On your PC, use your mouse cursor to click the Messages app on your phone screen.
• Select the message thread that you want to delete and tap the Trash icon.
• Confirm that you want to delete the message thread.
• The message thread should be deleted from both your phone and PC.

The best course of action would be to provide your feedback and suggestions to the developers, expressing your desire for deleting messages in Phone Link app in future versions. To submit feedback to the developers, simultaneously press the Windows logo key and the F key on your keyboard. Please note that while your feedback is important, the decision lies with the developers and subsequent versions may or may not incorporate such changes.
