microsoft will be migrating all emails to outlook in 2024. Will I lose my old emails and contacts?

I have 2 msn.com email accounts for years and need my old emails and contacts and folder in my email. I use a laptop with Windows 10 and a desktop version of office not a subscription.

According to Microsoft: "Beginning in 2024, Windows 11 devices will be shipped with the new Outlook for Windows as the default mailbox application free for all to use. Starting in June 2023, we are beginning the process of migrating existing Windows Mail, Calendar, and People users to the new Outlook for Windows."

Does this mean I may lose my old emails and contacts and email folders in migration. How can I prevent or save for easy access?

Thanks for info. I am not very tech smart.

    I know that Microsoft will move Calendar and Mail into Outlook. Did you receive a date when the move will be made?

    In reply to any post. I turned on my new laptop this AM and ****? Msn mail no longer works and I've got this piece of s*** that is in a small font only. I can't copy/paste to and I can no longer use 2 msn windows at once. It won't do what msn mail (outlook) would do. Duckduckgo, my choice of a search engine, is gone and I don't want Bing tracking all my searches. How do I get my old msn mail (outlook) back and get rid of this junk I never asked for nor wanted.

    Why didn't my Juno account transfer to the new outlook that replaced Mail? When trying to add juno account to the new outlook it fails. I am postive all of the input settings are correct.

    If I switch from Office 2013 to Microsoft 365, I will not loose my emails in Outlook?

    You just explained the cause that Microsoft Mail does not send outgoing mail. However, I hope I will know how to set iMAP to work in Microsoft Outlook.

    Outgoing mail uses SMTP... That is in place with the new Windows Outlook...

    IMAP and POP3 both can receive email... they have some differences in functionality.. Some really like IMAP.. I tend to like POP3.. Best read up on the two different styles... They have implemented IMAP in the new Windows Outlook.. but POP3 is on a possible features list... (not guaranteed as I understand)
