Installation Failure for 2023-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5031356) 0x8007000D

Thanks Brian, I did steps 1 and 3 but not 2. Everything checked out fine but still would not work. I suspended updates for a week hoping Microsoft will correct the problem. If it does not happen might try step 2(worried that it might make things worse) and might try to restore windows w/o deleting my files. Since my system is not compatible with win 11 there may be a problem with my drivers or hardware. I don't have tmp2 and it says my graphics card is not compatible with win 11, but, win 10 was working just fine until this update , yet, it failed and does not show in my successful updates. My PC that it won't install on is over half empty. 576GB free space. My current question is why did it install the other update kb5031224 on 10-11 and another update kb5001716 on 10-12, but, will not install kb5031356? That would indicate to me that nothing is wrong with my windows update setup.

On my HP Spectre, Windows 10 v 22H2 (upgrade 11/22) (KB5031356) upgraded successfully without admin/user interaction needed on 10/11/2023.

On my Lenova Yoga 7 also running Windows 10 v 22H2, had the above mentioned issue with "restart pending". After multiple failed restart/reboot attempts and the upgrade not happening, "Restart Required" status remaining, I ran David's steps, Troubleshooter first per suggestion, and continued to steps 1 through 3 in the first section verbatim. I then re ran the upgrade check, (KB5031356) showed up and started to download/install). Checked history after install/restart. Problem cleared and upgrade was successful.

This is a microsoft problem and microsoft needs to correct it ASAP. It failed to install on my desktop Win 10 which unfortunately is not compatible with Win11. It tried to install at least 3 times failing each time until I stopped the updates for 7 days. Another update worked on 10-11 and still another worked on 10-12. But, now my computer is really going slow and acting strange. Am currently running the DISMs and so far no problems showing. Which microsoft would provide a patch to correct this failure. Also, checked for viruses and malware and all checked out ok!

I have same issues with Windows 10 21H2. We have tested manually and KB5031356 was failed leaving the SSU installed Servicing Stack 10.0.19041.3562

I have tried 10 machines and 5 were success and 5 were failed.

Just noticed that kb5031356 is for 22H2 builds 19044.3570 and 19045.3570 and that my HP pavillion desktop is Win 10 22H2, build 19045.3448. Could this be my problem? And, why is not my build 19045.3448 not up to date? And how do I get it up to date. Maybe some of the earlier updates going to 22H2 did not work properly either??? Just noticed that this update is suppose to update the build to 19045.3570, so guess that is not the problem!!!
