Hi,

I'm really upset of the new address bar because I can't drag and drop anymore files to parent folder like in old file explorer address bar

Can you fix the problem in a close future update or tell me how to change this back to old version (exist in windows 11 file explorer)

The new address bar is above the tools bar (New - Cut - Copy - etc), the old one is bellow

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Files, folders, and storage

As a person with repetitive stress injury (RSI), I'm trying to minimise the amount of clicks that I'm making. But Microsoft.. Well they don't care about health standards and disabilities, instead of making things better and faster they are making them slower and worse. Great design!

this is "good" only if you are copying a few files between two folders and this is not a problem really. But using this method you can't sort files if you have a structure like this C:/Archive/2023/Portfolio/Designs/Temp. let's say in this folder you have many files, some are sources some are other things now being in this folder you can drag your files for future sorting into other folders right? For example, you want to drag and drop into designs and there is another file that is not connected with the portfolio at all but is from 2023 so you can drag and drop it into the 2023 folder, and so on. So this cut and paste in this case will give you a headache and something that would take a minute will take 5 its a waste of time and productivity.

Please don't get me wrong. I was never saying that cut and paste is a substitute for drag and drop to the address bar. I was only pointing out that cut and paste may be easier than drag and drop to an interim location (at least in some cases).

I too want to see the return of drag and drop to the address bar. It's removal is a downgrade. For now, I'll stick with Windows 10 or, if I must use Windows 11, I'll revert Explorer to the previous version or the Windows 10 version, as long as that's still possible.

No worries, I was just trying to explain the case, didn't know that you knew about it :) Yeah, same here with Windows 10 :( It was a very bad design choice by Microsoft.. Cheers!

Yet another UI feature implemented at the cost of user productivity. The design process behind Windows 11 and associated products is extremely unprofessional.
