Hi,

I'm really upset of the new address bar because I can't drag and drop anymore files to parent folder like in old file explorer address bar

Can you fix the problem in a close future update or tell me how to change this back to old version (exist in windows 11 file explorer)

The new address bar is above the tools bar (New - Cut - Copy - etc), the old one is bellow

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Files, folders, and storage

This is as annoying as the "we hear your pain" comments on every reply. You do not hear us, you only hear our money.

This is just a temp solution and only lasts for as long as you have the particular Explorer window open.

How to easily switch to Windows 10 File Explorer on Windows 11 22H2 (youtube.com)

    • Open Control Panel (I had to open from the Start/search bar in the taskbar)
    • In the address bar, click the arrow next to the icon
    • Click Home (or any other folders on the dropdown)

It will revert back to the Windows 10 version of windows explorer, but again, only for this particular window. If you close it an open a new explorer window, it'll be the Windows 11 version.

ETA: I don't have administrator access on my work laptop, so a temp solution is likely my best option right now.

You can set the Windows 10 Explorer as your default using this:

Administrator access is not required, as it just sets a few user profile registry settings.

Note: This is a workaround. We still need to push Microsoft to bring back address bar drag and drop to the new Explorer.

    Dear Yoame,

I stumbled across your question searching for an answer myself, and I think I have found a solution.

Using a third-party program, it is possible to restore the exporer navigation bar to the last version in which the classic drag and drop function was still available.

The program in question is called Windhawk, they are "The customization marketplace for Windows programs", or so they say.

I do have to say that this program is not a native windows feature, but rather a workaround, so be aware of any possible bugs and proceed at your own risk.

For me it has been working great so far after my first hour of use.

Windows 11 entire purpose : The New UI/UX

Also Windows 11 : Removes one of the most useful UX feature of Windows for managing your files

Guess I'm reverting back to Windows 10 then. There are pretty much no interesting added features but definitely a lot of removed ones so far.

    (Seriously I don't understand)
