All,
I found one workaround for now for UNC path Drag & Drop issues to the Desktop.
- Map the UNC path first
- Drag & Drop the Mapped Drive to the Desktop

Hi,
I'm really upset of the new address bar because I can't drag and drop anymore files to parent folder like in old file explorer address bar
Can you fix the problem in a close future update or tell me how to change this back to old version (exist in windows 11 file explorer)
The new address bar is above the tools bar (New - Cut - Copy - etc), the old one is bellow

If when the next release of Windows is pulbicly available, this issue is fixed, or any issue I've meentioned in this thread (including all the ones Microsoft has deleted) then I'll give everyone here a shiny new sawbuck.
They fixed this in the latest update! Thank you!! This just made my day!
Got a new similar one!
You used to be able to click and drag an attachment from an email in outlook down to the bottom right of the screen (to the show desktop shortcut) so that you could drop the attachment on the desktop.
Much faster and easier way of dealing with info in my wokflow and used this all day every day for literally years.
That's no longer possible as of a few days ago.
Microsoft Copilot was aware and had a clear answer, told me the feature is not available in latest outlook/Win11 and said it could understand how frustrating it is when software developers like Microsoft remove productivity tools and make their products harder to use.
I'd laugh if I want so bitterly angry with Microsoft. All these bad and careless changes make every day harder and longer - the polar opposite of what they claim they aim to achieve and the polar opposite of what they supposedly exist for.
When you drag the attachment to the desktop hotspot, do you drop the attachment there or does the desktop show and you drop it on the desktop? I'm not going to get into saving files to the desktop, I'm not even touching that one, at all, but I tried doing as you do and when I hit the hotspot with my attachment, the desktop clears and I can drop the file anywhere I wish. Is that not the expected behavior?
